Organization History

ASON International has an exciting mission!

ASON International was born to search for strong, capable leaders in countries around the world in need of assistance, to form partnerships with these leaders, and to serve them for a time to help them accomplish their God-given vision for a self-sustaining ministry to the people of their own nation.

The vision for this organization evolved over many years of being involved in short term mission projects. ASON was founded in 1997.

Since 1987, President Ellen Abramson has been involved with cross-cultural ventures that have been the inspiration behind ASON International. She has recruited, organized and led hundreds of adults and teens on short-term mission trips to Chicago's inner city, the hollers of Kentucky and since 1989, internationally to the Dominican Republic, Israel, Russia, Latvia, Germany, Ghana, Asia, and Kenya.

In Chicago, teams assisted community development in the Austin neighborhood. In Kentucky, homes were improved for mountain families. Bare electrical connections and hazardous heating made this a life-saving endeavor. Families were encouraged and their lot in life improved.

In the Dominican Republic, mercy ministry took a new twist as Ellen began to develop relationships with national leaders across denominational lines, as she evaluated eight years worth of projects that had been completed in the Dominican Republic, and began to focus the ministry for the most effective use of human and financial resources.

In Latvia and Russia, church partnerships have been set up between US churches and church planters with proven track records who will plant churches in Latvia and former Soviet countries. Support, encouragement and guidance to ministry leaders in Asia, Germany and Africa have been very successful in assisting nationals as they share the Gospel and lead unbelievers to Christ in their various and diverse ministry organizations.

The list goes on. The joys go on. Check our projects, mission teams, and child sponsorships to see what is currently happening on our fields.
