Peter Awane

Ghana, West Africa

Background

Peter Awane has been a believer for more than 25 years. He spent 18 years translating the Old Testament into his native FraFra language. In 2008 the first translated versions of the Old Testament were in the hands of the FraFra people. Peter is a church planter who runs a ministry which includes a radio station, a school of 800 students through 9th grade, a mother church and several church plants.

National’s Vision

Peter has an NGO whose mission it is to reach and disciple people for Christ by preaching, radio ministry, and school for children and youth.  Peter has written music for several music videos that his wife, Comfort, has produced.  She is very gifted in drama and musical productions.  During one national election both political parties aired her music video on national television as part of their campaigns!  The music video focused on wars around the world, and presented Jesus as the means to peace!  Peter has 5 acres which he is developing for the benefit of his people. He wants to focus on Christian education that will provide a good living for all ages and ASON intends to help him as God allows through people like you.

How ASON is Assisting

  • In collaboration with Peter, ASON has proudly funded the distribution of thousands of FraFra Bibles. Presently, after the triumphant revision of the FraFra New Testament, Peter and his dedicated team are now fervently working on the Old Testament's revision. Upon its completion, we'll require support for its printing, ensuring the words of faith reach every corner.

  • Every year, in the serene heartlands of Ghana, we organize Leaders and Women's Conferences. Our aim? To bolster the spirits of women and hone the skills of emerging local leaders in Peter's remote Ghanaian community.

  • The world-renowned Bolga Baskets, handwoven by Peter’s community, have found a global audience through us. ASON proudly showcases and sells these artisanal baskets at prominent women's conferences and thrice-yearly at Cocoa Village Art Fairs.

  • Nestled on 5 acres in Ghana, the mother church site stands tall as a beacon of education and faith. The school, built under ASON’s initiative, offers quality Christian education up to 9th grade. By 2025, we're enthusiastically aiming to expand it to the 12th grade. Presently, we're channeling our energy into building three new classrooms to accommodate the growing number of eager learners. And with your continued support, in the next two years, we envision constructing three more rooms for 10th-12th grades.
