Urgent Funding Needed: Completing High School in Ghana
In 2003, Ellen Abramson embarked on a mission to deliver a New Testament translation to the FraFra Tribe in Ghana. Little did she know, this journey would mark the beginning of a remarkable partnership that would change the course of education in the region.
It was during this mission that Ellen crossed paths with Peter Awane, a man whose resilience and vision would leave an indelible mark on their community. Their initial encounter was brief, but fate had other plans in store. In 2009, torrential rains washed away Peter's first school. Ellen knew she had to act, as she saw the potential for renewal and growth within the community.
With unwavering determination, Ellen and Peter joined forces, fueled by a shared vision of providing high-quality Christian education, economic development, and sanitation solutions to Peter's tribe.
Blessed with five acres of land from his tribe, Peter had a clear vision of how to utilize this blessing for the greater good. They meticulously crafted blueprints and surveyed the land, laying the foundation for a brighter future.
What followed was a journey of collaboration. With the generous support of our donors, we began to breathe life into this vision.
Mission trips from the US provided crucial assistance in construction projects, while annual conferences empowered women and leaders alike. Together, they forged bonds that transcended borders and cultures.
From replacing colonial-era wells with modern deep wells, to building sanitation infrastructure, their efforts reverberated throughout the community. But perhaps their greatest achievement was in education.
Dividing the education project into five phases, from Elementary School to High School. With each phase, they brought the dream of quality education closer to reality.
In 2014, a pivotal moment arrived with the acquisition of a school bus. This symbolized more than just transportation; it represented access and opportunity for the children of Ghana. The school flourished, with the student body expanding from 350 to 500 students, thanks to the addition of the school bus.
Today, their school boasts over 800 students—a testament to the transformative power of education. Yet, their journey is far from over.
As they stand on the brink of completing Phase 5 of their education development project, the need is urgent. With just $73,000 needed to finish this critical phase. Adding the High School will allow these students to move on to higher education immediately upon graduation without need for remedial training.
They call upon kind hearts and generous souls to join them in their quest to bridge the gap between dreams and reality.
In 2025, let us come together to celebrate not just the completion of Phase 5, but the triumph of hope over adversity.
Let us unite in support of a brighter future for the children of Ghana. Together, we can make a difference.
