Progress Update from South Asia

When I first visited the field in South Asia in 2023, I spent time in many of our rural churches. What stood out immediately were the humble church structures paired with remarkably strong congregations—believers worshiping faithfully and boldly despite ongoing persecution. God is clearly at work in these communities, not through impressive buildings, but through resilient faith and committed people.

One of those outlying churches had recently been completed at the time of my visit—a simple yet strong concrete structure serving as a gathering place and point of stability for the surrounding community. I still remember sitting in the sanctuary with the pastor, his wife, and their daughter, sharing tea and talking about the apartment that was planned to be built on top of the church.

Some fields are more challenging than others, and in South Asia progress can be slower for a variety of reasons. That is why I am especially grateful and excited to share this update: after several years of waiting, the apartment for this pastor and his family has now been completed.

Having their home directly above the church, within the same boundary walls, significantly enhances security for both the family and the church itself. With someone present at all times, the building is better protected—an important consideration in a region where hostility toward churches remains an ongoing concern. Many of you may remember that our mother church was vandalized not long ago, underscoring just how real these risks are.

Our national leader for this field recently sent us a short video of the completed apartment. We praise God for His faithfulness and provision, and we want to sincerely thank every donor who helped make this possible.

We are currently working with 15 church planters on an ongoing basis and are actively raising funds to build additional churches and pastors’ apartments, as well as to complete construction on the mother church—including an apartment for our national leader. He selflessly chose to postpone his own needs until this pastor’s family was cared for, but now it is time to ensure that he, too, has a safe home within the boundary walls of the mother church.
