A First Profitable Month: An Update from Adonai Textile in Los Guaricanos

When our mission team first mixed mortar in the summer heat of Los Guaricanos just over a year ago, a profitable T-shirt factory felt like a distant dream. Today, we get to share news we could hardly have imagined would come this fast: Adonai Textile has recorded its first profitable month.

Before we get to the news, let's look back at how far God has brought this project — stage by stage.

June 2025: Breaking Ground on a Dream

During our construction mission trip in June 2025, a team of 17 — most of them students — traveled to Los Guaricanos in Santo Domingo North to begin building the addition that would house the factory. Bricks were laid, sand was sifted, and mortar and stucco were mixed by hand. It was hard, sweaty work, but every brick was an investment in the long-term self-sufficiency of the ministry of Mano a Mano con Adonai.

August 2025: Finishing Touches and First Equipment

Just weeks later, the building had been transformed: AC systems installed, windows in place, rooms freshly painted, and tile on the floors. During our visit that summer, we met with an equipment vendor who helped us plan the initial setup, place the order for our first machines, and arrange for staff training and raw materials.

December 2025: Cutting the First Patterns

By our annual child sponsorship Christmas mission trip, the factory had reached two critical milestones. The cutting table — one of the final pieces needed before staff training could begin — had arrived. And because the local power grid is notoriously unreliable, a backup generator was procured and installed. Before the trip was over, our team cut the first 500 patterns in preparation for training.

January 2026: Training and First Production

Over the holidays and into January, staff training was underway and the first shirts began coming off the line. For the first time, neighbors from the community were earning well-paying jobs inside a building they had watched rise from bare block walls only months before.

February 2026: The Grand Opening

In February, Ellen joined Joselin, the factory manager, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony that marked the official grand opening of Adonai Textile. From the first shovel of sand to a working factory in under ten months — only God.

This Summer: A First Profitable Month

And now the update we are overjoyed to share with you, our donors: this summer, Adonai Textile had its first profitable month.

We want to be honest — it was a small profit, and there is a long way to go before the factory generates enough to sustain the ministry in Los Guaricanos. But a business that did not exist a year ago is now paying its workers, covering its costs, and returning a profit. Praise God for what He has done, and for how fast He has done it.

How You Can Help

This is the moment to press forward, and we need your partnership in three specific ways.

Pray for the supply chain. Reliable access to fabric and raw materials is essential for consistent production. Pray that every link comes together.

Pray for sales to pick up. A few hundred shirts a month is the difference between breaking even and sustaining a ministry. Pray that orders grow steadily.

Give toward new machinery. We are raising the remaining funds to purchase additional machinery so Adonai Textile can produce polo shirts as well — opening new markets and moving the factory closer to fully sustaining the school and ministry it was built to support.

If God has used this story to encourage you, would you consider being part of the next chapter? Please give, and join us in praying for the team in Los Guaricanos.

Our dream is making their dreams come true — and in Los Guaricanos, that dream is now stitched into every shirt.
