Building a Home Base for Ministry in Asia
When I first visited our field in Asia, I was struck by a beautiful contrast: humble church buildings paired with remarkably strong congregations—believers worshiping faithfully and boldly in the midst of ongoing pressure and persecution. In one rural church, we sat with a pastor and his family in their simple sanctuary and talked about a hope-filled plan: an apartment to be built above the church, giving them both a safe home and a stronger sense of security for the congregation.
Progress in this field often comes slowly, which is why we were deeply encouraged when that pastor’s apartment was finally completed last Christmas. Having their home within the same boundary walls as the church means someone is present at all times, helping protect both the building and the people who gather there. In a region where hostility toward churches is very real—our mother church was vandalized not long ago—this kind of stability matters.
Today, we are preparing to take the next step: breaking ground on two key projects for our Mother Church—a dedicated Ministry Building and an apartment for our Lead Pastor and National in this field. Blueprints are in hand, and we are eagerly waiting for construction to begin so ministry, discipleship, and training can grow from a secure, central home base. These spaces will not only serve the congregation; they will also help care for the shepherd who has faithfully put others first, even postponing his own housing needs until other pastors and families were provided for.
We are currently walking alongside 13 church planters in this region and actively raising funds to complete the Mother Church, add the ministry space it needs, and build the apartment that will allow our national leader to live within its boundary walls. Our prayer is that these buildings will help ministry flourish for years to come in places where faith is strong, even when circumstances are challenging.
Would you join us in praying for these projects and, as the Lord leads, consider investing in the Ministry Building and pastor’s apartment so the church in South Asia can continue to stand firm and grow? Your partnership strengthens brothers and sisters who are faithfully shining the light of Christ in a challenging field.
