Building More Than Walls: A Mission of Faith, Youth, and Lasting Impact in the Dominican Republic

From June 21st to June 30th, a mission team of 17 passionate individuals—mostly teenagers—from Michigan and North Dakota will travel to Los Guaricanos in Santo Domingo Norte, Dominican Republic. This energetic crew, joined by ASON staff and local partners, is stepping into a sacred assignment we believe God has orchestrated.

Their mission? To help construct an addition for our T-Shirt factory and embroidery business—a project at the very heart of ASON’s long-term vision for sustainable ministry in the Dominican Republic.

But this isn’t just about concrete and cinder blocks. It’s about laying the groundwork for something far greater: a self-sustaining enterprise that will one day empower the local ministry to thrive independently—without relying on outside funding.

What makes this trip even more remarkable is the makeup of the team—mostly teenagers who could have spent their summer break elsewhere, but instead chose to spend it building hope. We pray this experience shapes them deeply, sparking a lifelong passion for missions and Kingdom work.

As they prepare to go, we ask you lift up this mission in prayer:

  • Pray for unity and spiritual readiness among the team, and for hearts—both theirs and those they’ll meet—to be softened and open.

  • Pray for families back home, that they’ll experience peace and encouragement while their loved ones serve abroad.

  • Pray for health, protection, and strength, especially as the team works under the hot sun—laying block, mixing concrete, and laboring side-by-side with Dominican brothers and sisters.

  • Pray for spiritual encounters as they worship together, visit sponsored children, and immerse themselves in meaningful cultural exchange.

Mission trips like this don’t end when the plane touches down. The seeds planted during this week will bear fruit for years to come—in lives changed, communities empowered, and hearts awakened to God's call.

You can be part of this movement. If you feel led, please consider donating to this transformative project. Every dollar brings us closer to creating a self sustaining ministry.

And just as importantly—share this story. Tell your church. Forward this post to a friend. The more voices join us, the wider our impact.

Thank you for praying, giving, and standing with us. Together, we are not only building walls—we're building a future.
